The Afghanistan Women's National Football Team Evacuation Project

The Afghanistan women's national football team was the women's national team of Afghanistan until the fall of Kabul in 2021. They played under the authority of the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF), with the majority of their home games at the Ghazi Stadium.

Since the Taliban took power women and girls in Afghanistan have been banned from nearly all civil liberties, including the right to an education, the right to go out and travel without a male guardian, and the right to exercise sports in public.

Tawana Organization is working with government organizations to get players and families to safety and establish a safe space where they can continue their football careers and receive support to live empowered lives.

The project includes four phases:

- Evacuation of Athletes from Afghanistan

- Resettlement process in the Third country

- Support the mental health and wellbeing of the athletes

- Promote empowerment through sports (i.e., Football)
