ABOUT US
Tawana Organization, registered 501(c)3 is a non-profit organization in the U.S.A with the mission to use sport as a tool for positive change, bring all genders in the community to grow as leaders and influence their communities positively.
Hajar Abulfazl, founder of the Tawana organization, challenges the taboo of women playing football and sports. She’s also an advocate for women's rights and empowerment through sport as a member of the first generation of national female football team players in Afghanistan.
She established the Tawana organization in 2015 in Afghanistan with a committed team of youth to develop social, cultural, and sports activities.
Since the Taliban took power women and girls in Afghanistan have been banned from nearly all civil liberties, including the right to an education, the right to go out and travel without a male guardian, and the right to exercise sports in public. She has been advocating for athletes' rights and tirelessly searching for ways to support them and relocate them to a safe place so they can continue to exercise sports and build a better future for themselves and their community.
